Here’s a glimpse into my background
My name is Inma. I was born in Seville where nature and the understanding of life captured my interest at a very early age. After training as a Biologist at the University of Seville, I completed a PhD in Cancer Biology at the Center for Cancer Research (CIC) in Salamanca. I then carried out my post-doctoral studies at the Barts Cancer Institute and the UCL Cancer Institute in London, conducting basic research in cell signaling in cancer and trying to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the development of the disease.
My passion for science and nature have always gone hand in hand with an innate ability to draw and paint, skills that I have used not only as a hobby, but also to communicate my scientific results in an effective and visually attractive way.
In 2017, I was selected to take part in the first Master’s Degree in Scientific Illustration in Spain, taught by the University of the Basque Country. The course was a unique opportunity where I had the chance to train with illustrators of great renown and international experience such as Carles Puche and Fernando Baptista, senior graphics editor at National Geographic, who is considered one of the best infographic artists in the world today. In 2019, I founded DharmaBeren Studio. Ever since I have been committed to delivering high quality scientific illustrations for a varied client portfolio, helping them achieve their mission while fulfilling my dharma.
Why me?
50% of the scientific illustrator’s work consists of documenting, reading and researching the scientific topic to be illustrated. In order to represent something, we first have to understand it.
Why me? I am a biologist, scientist and scientific illustrator. Among the skills that I have acquired during my career as a biologist and researcher, there is a great capacity for analysis, observation, understanding, attention to detail, critical and creative thinking. When we discuss your project and your results, I will advise you on the best way to represent them graphically, with the vision, experience and knowledge of the biologist, the scientist and the scientific illustrator.
